Happy first day of fall! Is it finally appropriate to wear sweaters? No? Because it’s still like 80 degrees out? Gotcha! So happy it’s finally appropriate to wear sweaters.

Today we’re going over three fall trends that I just happened to throw together in a rush. After looking at some of the runway reports, you’ll notice that blush is a big color proponent this season. Also on the trend radar are backpacks and wearing sneakers with dresses. These things are usually part of my day-to-day uniform anyway, so I’m pretty thrilled that the trends have caught up with me. (Winky face.) If you’re looking for some fall trends to try, these three are so easy and versatile, they’ll mesh right into your style.
Otherwise known as a dusty pink hue, this romantic tone is a wonderful accent to the other fall colors that usually grace your wardrobe around this time of year. Blush is neutral enough to be a fine complement, but it’s pretty enough to stand on its own if need be. I layered a blush sweater (Forever 21) over a simple black tank dress (similar here) for a casual vibe. It was the perfect piece to add an autumn element to my ensemble. It kept me warm when I spent time in the arctic, otherwise known as Dunkin Donuts. Then when I got too warm, I tied it around my waist Nineties-style.
As a writer who can work from anywhere with WiFi, I pretty much always have my laptop in tow. Along with other miscellaneous items, like apples I save from Panera and coconut body spray, my laptop keeps my backpack company the majority of the time. I got this bag at LF’s crazy annual sale a couple years ago. But backpacks (love this fringe one) aren’t just convenient for people like me and students and Dora The Explorer (I obviously channeled Dora in this photo). Backpacks are very chic, structured additions to any outfit that exudes a casual, cool vibe. They’re hands-free and great for running errands when a bulky handbag just gets in the way.
Slip-on sneakers are great go-tos. Especially in fall when it just doesn’t feel right to wear open-toed espadrilles anymore, chic sneaks are the perfect in-between. I’ve had my leopard print ones (H&M; but I love these) for a few years now, and I’m well overdue for a new pair. There’s just something so fun about wearing funky printed sneakers that really brings a new dimension to your outfit. Prints are practically the new neutral these days, so the more outgoing you are with your sneaker choice, the better off you are.
Of these fall trends to try, which one are you most excited to wear?
