Buns are fun!
*Although this post is sponsored, all embarrassing opinions are my own.*
If you’re a true fashion lover, you know that one of the best ways to draw personal style inspiration is to follow fashion houses as they rock the runways during fashion months, February and September. And now that September has ended (you can wake up now, Green Day), it’s time to find some of the best beauty looks for fall.
Ever since I chopped all my hair off in March and opted for a long bob (aka the “lob”), I’ve regained my appreciation for hairstyling. When my locks were long, they were damaged and I never had the time or motivation to try styling them. Blonde hair is generally known for its fine strands, but hairdressers are always rightfully surprised when they realize just how much hair I have… No thinning issues here. And thus, with a lot of heavy, long hair in the Miami humidity, I was fighting a losing battle. Needless to say, the lob has been my hair’s hero.
So this month, while scoping runway photos and bookmarking my favorite fashion and beauty trends to try, I noticed a recurring theme: Buns. Buns everywhere. And I am not ashamed to say… I am in love with the bun. Sure, these styles are meant for spring, but I’m not one to wait when I see something I like.
With that being said, I’ve rounded up my favorite bun looks from the runways. But don’t be fooled; what was once the lazy girl’s hairstyle has now evolved into a couture coif. Check out why I’m in love with the bun…
1. Not Tink’s Topknot
OK, so this one is pretty easy. The topknot trend has been making greasy hair acceptable for cool-girls for quite a few seasons now, so we all knew there would be an update to come. And here it is: the I-don’t-even-care-what’s-going-on-with-this-mop, quasi-unicorn topknot. I’ve definitely pulled off this look before, coming home from the bar and carelessly twisting my hair to get it out of the way so that I could eat my Taco Bell in peace. This, I can do.
2. The Half-Bun
Or as some people are grossly calling it, the ‘hun.’ *Shudder.* Some have also described the half-bun akin to the man bun — which we all know is a hairstyle perfect for tricking us into thinking any man sporting it is really, really, ridiculously good looking. Moving on from the name, though, the half-bun is actually the hottest hair trend right now, yet it didn’t make it to the runways. Instead, street style photos and front rows were saturated with the effortlessly edgy look. The half-bun is ideal for one-to-three-day-old hair, making it my favorite fall trend.
As an aside, I would also like to note that I started this trend last September before it was cool, so I am the real MVP here. You’re welcome, fellow lazies.
